About this artwork

A richly composed Baroque scene gathers an elderly woman, a bearded man, a young woman, and a child around a baby. The man raises a small birdcage above them, while attentive faces and gently touching hands create an intimate, tender mood. Warm red and ochre accents glow against deep, shadowed clothing and a muted architectural setting.
