About this artwork

A richly composed Baroque scene brings a gathering of robed figures into a shadowed woodland landscape. A red-clad figure gestures above a kneeling man, while others watch from the foreground and hillside. Muted greens and browns, dramatic folds of red, blue, and gold, and a clouded sky give the image a solemn, contemplative mood. A striking choice for a study, library, or traditional living space.
