About this artwork

An expressive oil painting depicting a dramatic encounter between a reclining fair-haired woman and a startled man in a mustard-yellow tunic. The woman extends one arm forward, her hand gently touching the man's neck as he pulls back with a look of surprise and resistance. Rich folds of deep blue fabric drape across the scene, contrasting sharply with the soft white linens of the bed and the dark, shadowed background. The theatrical lighting highlights the figures' expressive gestures and detailed features, creating a tense and captivating classical composition.
