About this artwork

An exquisite classical oil painting depiction featuring an elderly man with a long gray beard and a dark halo, dressed in a vibrant blue tunic and a draped mauve cloak. He is captured in profile, intently writing in an open book with a white feather quill. Behind him, a young angelic figure with curly blonde hair and feathered wings gazes upwards while holding a small ceramic jar. The artwork is set against a stark black background, emphasizing the dramatic lighting that illuminates the figures and creates a rich interplay of shadow and depth within an octagonal frame format.
