About this artwork

An oil painting depicting a classical religious scene with several figures gathered near a wooden cross outdoors under a dramatic, cloudy sky. Multiple figures, some partially clad in draped fabrics, surround an older bearded figure who is kneeling. The figures interact with expressive gestures and postures in a dramatic chiaroscuro style, set against a dark wooded background with earthy green, brown, and muted gray tones.
