About this artwork

An oil painting depicting traditional sailing ships with Dutch flags on a wavy sea under a dramatic cloudy sky. In the foreground, small rowboats carry people near a stone pier where figures stand looking toward the water. In the background, a coastal town with a tall lighthouse and distant mountains sits under soft light breaking through clouds.
