About this artwork

A russet deer bends to graze among dark, sweeping tree trunks, pale blossoms, and a vivid cobalt-blue sky. Franz Marc’s expressive shapes and bold color contrasts give this woodland scene a dreamlike, contemplative mood, bringing a striking note of nature to a living room, study, or reading nook.
