About this artwork

A cluster of horses emerges from a vivid, dreamlike landscape of sweeping green forms and angular bands of red, orange, blue, and white. Franz Marc’s expressive composition balances recognizable animal figures with bold, shifting planes of color, bringing energy and movement to a room.
