About this artwork

An oil painting depicting a friar kneeling outdoors in a rocky landscape, with his arms raised upward toward a dramatic blue and cloudy sky. He wears a traditional brown robe tied at the waist with a cord and a rosary, looking upward with an expression of religious devotion. In the lower foreground, an open book rests beside a wooden crucifix on a stone. Another figure in a similar robe is shown resting nearby in the background, surrounded by rugged terrain and shadowed cliffs under the daylight sky.
