About this artwork

An expressive oil painting depicting a dramatic historical scene outdoors under a blue sky. On the right, an elderly bearded man in a vibrant blue robe kneels on the ground with outstretched arms while men in period clothing gather around him. In the center, several figures actively raise a wooden cross alongside a wooden ladder. Above, winged angelic figures float in the luminous clouds, one holding a palm frond. The composition is rich in dynamic movement, detailed facial expressions, and a diverse palette of earthy tones accented by bright blue, red, and pink garments.
