About this artwork

A dreamlike, intimate scene in deep blue: a veiled woman in red sits beneath a crescent moon as a second figure leans close and a vivid bouquet brightens the right side. The expressive, layered composition brings a poetic, contemplative mood to a reading nook or gallery wall. Catalogued in the collection of Marc Chagall.
