About this artwork

A tranquil waterside scene unfolds beneath a bright, cloud-filled sky. Figures fish from a small boat while a finely dressed couple and their dog stand at the shaded edge of the pond. Loose, painterly strokes bring together deep greens, soft blues, and warm golden light in an Impressionist composition by Édouard Manet.
