About this artwork

A tense Baroque scene of figures caught in a moment of violence, with a reaching mother, a crying infant, and a raised sword. Deep shadows and vivid red, blue, and ochre garments heighten the drama against a bright, clouded sky. A powerful statement piece for a study or gallery wall.
