About this artwork

A classical Baroque scene of figures dancing in a ring as a winged musician plays the lyre. Above them, a celestial chariot crosses a dramatic, cloud-filled sky. Poussin balances flowing movement and colorful drapery with a composed, theatrical arrangement in muted blue, ochre, and russet tones. A contemplative statement for a study, library, or living space.
