About this artwork

This classical oil painting features an elderly man with a white beard tenderly holding a young child wrapped in white cloth. The man wears a dark purple garment draped with a vibrant golden-orange cloak against a dark, dramatic background. The child looks up toward the elder, reaching for an object they both hold in their hands. The lighting illuminates their faces and forms with strong contrast, emphasizing soft skin tones and textured fabric folds.
