About this artwork

A gathering of figures unfolds beside a quiet river, framed by tall trees and distant mountains beneath a softly clouded sky. Poussin’s Baroque composition balances expressive gestures and vivid blue and ochre garments with the stillness of the expansive landscape. Earthy greens, warm browns, and muted blues bring a contemplative, classical presence to a study, library, or living space.
