About this artwork

Nicolas Poussin’s Baroque Nativity gathers Mary, Joseph, the infant Christ, and visiting shepherds in a dim stable. Rich blue and ochre garments emerge from deep shadow, creating a solemn, contemplative scene suited to a study, library, or traditional living space.
