About this artwork

An oil painting depicting a youthful bust-length portrait of a girl against a dark, moody background. Her pale face features distinct flushed pink cheeks and softly defined lips, framed by voluminous dark brown curly hair styled in wide clusters on either side. Numerous translucent, pale grey decorative ribbons are woven intricately through the curls, creating a distinct curved pattern. She wears a simple light-colored garment, and visible fine craquelure covers the surface of the artwork, adding historic texture to the classical composition.
