About this artwork

A woman reclines beneath a pale, striped wrap in a richly layered interior. Matisse sets cool blue and gray fabrics against a vivid orange floral wall, with deep violet and rose upholstery adding warmth. Expressive forms and contrasting patterns give this intimate scene a relaxed, quietly vivid presence for a living room, bedroom, or reading space.
