About this artwork

A dramatic Baroque interior unfolds around a central figure framed by rich burgundy curtains and ornate furnishings. Warm light picks out the pale figure and white drapery, while shadowed onlookers and a small dog add depth to the scene. Its dark, theatrical palette brings a sense of historical drama to a room.
